Romy Durrant is an emerging artist based on unceded Wurundjeri Country in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia. Romy’s paintings reflect on sensory encounters with nature, memory and the inner world whilst seeking to forge new, abstracted spaces for belonging and repair.
Romy’s lived experiences of neurodiversity, disability and mental health inform her intuitive relationship with paint. Romy is interested in the ways in which abstract painting can be used as a vehicle to explore intersections between fantasy, reality and personal history in their visual embodiment of place and space.
